When pain and suffering break through the front door of our lives, we often feel angry, disappointed, and confused by God. Those are totally normal feelings to have when confronted with the hard things in life.
In those moments our natural tendency is to run from God and hold back what we’re really thinking and feeling. We get worried that God will stop loving us, turn away from us, or turn on us.
When I look at the pages of Scripture, I see just how open God was to people coming to him with their doubts, fears, and very real emotions. He didn’t smite them or tune them out. While he may not have answered all their questions the way they wanted him to, he never turned a deaf ear but was always present to help them through their struggles. And he wants to do the same thing for you and me today.
1 Peter 5:7 says, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”
Psalm 51:7 says, “The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.”
What worries and cares have you been carrying on your shoulders? What have you been holding on to that it’s time to lay before God’s feet?
Don’t let another day go by with that burden on your back. Stop carrying it and start casting it to the one who made you, loves you, and wants to help you.
