It’s easy to make snap judgements about someone based on how they look, what they post social media, or what they say in the heat of the moment.

But human beings are so much more complicated than that. Everyone has a story that goes way beyond what any one moment can cover. No one fits neatly into a box.

I have discovered that the more I get to understand someone’s story the more compassion and connection I experience with them.

Don’t assume you fully understand why someone thinks and acts the way they do. Get to know their story. Learn where they’ve been. Ask questions without accusation. Listen without condemnation. Pay attention to their story like you hope they will pay attention to yours.

Chose to connect rather than criticize.
