I talked with a young woman whose dad died unexpectedly of a heart attack. When I asked her what her dad was like, the very first word she used to describe him was “workaholic.”

That really stuck with me.

I know it’s easy for me to get too caught up in work. As much as I love my job, I don’t want it to consume so much of my life that the first word my kids use to describe me after I’m gone is “workaholic.”

Let’s parent in such a way that the last thing our kids bring up at our funeral is our job.
