One of the hardest parts of living with a mental illness is how fear or depression can hit without warning. The loneliness and helplessness that come with it can feel overwhelming.

That’s why it’s so important to have people around you who can see what you can’t in those moments. You may not understand what’s happening—but sometimes they can help you take the next step.

It doesn’t take the pain away right away. But having someone walk with you through it is its own kind of medicine.

Mental illness can feel incredibly lonely. Having a few good people to lean on can make the load a little lighter.
