Something doesn’t need to be flashy to be functional.

The eye gravitates towards what is shiny, but often what we need is simpler than we realize. When having to choose between a complicated and a simple response, the simplest one is usually the right choice.

Notice I said simple, not easy. Simple and easy can be two very different things. Sometimes we choose complicated because it’s less uncomfortable than simple, but it commonly creates more pain in the long run.
