Recently I’ve been thinking about the story of Mary & Martha in Luke 10:38-42. There’s a great principle here we know but sometimes forget in ministry. And it’s this:
Don’t put your work for God before your walk with God.
Have you ever been guilty of making Martha’s mistake? I have.
Sometimes I find myself skipping my quiet time because I’ve got a message to put together.
I’ll start eating fast food all the time because I’m too busy with meetings to put together a decent lunch.
I’ll start skimming on my prayer times until things begin to fall apart.
I’ll pray great prayers at church but forget to teach my daughter how to pray.
I’ll give a couple who comes in for counseling because they’re struggling great advice that I don’t practice at home.
Can you relate to any of this?
God doesn’t want us to choose busyness. He wants us to choose what’s better: spending time with Him.
This week let’s choose spending time with God over being busy for God.
