Jesus knows what it’s like to experience the griefs of life—because He experienced them too.
In Luke 19, just before making His triumphal entry into Jerusalem, Jesus pauses outside the city and begins to weep.
“And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it, saying, ‘Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.’” — Luke 19:41–42 (ESV)
It’s hard for us to imagine how the people could have missed Jesus in their midst. But in many ways, we do the same thing.
We get so consumed and distracted by the things of this world that we miss His work and presence in our lives.
The things that bring real peace aren’t found in things.
They’re found in Jesus.
