Pretty cool idea. Here’s what FutureMe.org is all about:
Two fellas started this here site so that you could write yourself a letter to be delivered at a later date. We’ve all had to do them in high school and college. It’s sorta cool to receive a letter from yourself about where you thought you’d be a year (two years? more?) later. FutureMe.org is based on the principle that memories are less accurate than emails. We strive for accuracy.
You can go as far into the future as 2060 but I wouldn’t recommend it since the machines will have probably taken over by then.
I did something like this when I was at Biola. Right at the beginning of my freshmen year they had all of us write notes to ourselves that were to be delivered on the day that we graduated. In the letters we wrote down what we hoped to accomplish, thoughts that we had at the time, and where we hope to be by graduation. It was really cool experience to get those letter the day before my graduation to see what “Past Jeff” was like and how “Future Jeff” actually turned out.
Might be worth a try for your new year’s resolutions, a letter you write on the day your child is born, a note to your spouse on an anniversary, or something like that. I only wish they had a PastMe.org where I could write letters to myself in the past. That would be much more useful, but this is cool too.
